This might be my favourite pair of AKU boots, and I’ve had lots. I’ve got about 100km on them now in hot weather and wet weather. Sizing was typical for AKU, slightly larger than the same US size from other boot manufacturers. My 9US weighed in at 1500 grams. Nice mix of leather and fabric on the upper, they’ve been pretty good for staying cool and dry in hot weather. Wore them for a couple full days in the rain with gaiters, and they didn’t leak. The suede leather and fabric does take a while to dry out compared to smooth leathers. The suede leather isn’t very thick so it broke in very nicely, and the high rubber rand will help protect that thinner leather from damage. Great Vibram outsole, and the sole flex is actually significantly softer than the Superalp NBK and it has a different Vibram outsole as well. It’s got a nice medium sole flex, in line with other mid weight boots. The upper is actually quite flexible, so don’t expect stiff ankle support. The fit is fantastic for my foot, I’d say the boot has a wider than average forefoot. Wider than the Trekker Pro or the Riserva. Fantastic lacing setup goes far down the toes, and the hooks let you control tightness on the top of the boot vs the bottom.
Overall an awesome pair of boots, I’m looking forward to putting more miles on them this summer!
Perfect right out of the box.
Most comfortable Boots I have worn straight out of the box. I have now put dozens of Kms on rock hard asphalt and one Micro Spike hike in the mountains. Blown away by the fit, finish and craftsmanship of the boots. Had them down to -23C and feet were warm. No hot spots, no heel slip no real break in period. Would easily recommend them to anyone.
